This house on a lakeside hillside is a story about turning a challenging slope into a beautifully functioning, good-looking space. One of the most valuable details in the layout was building in two separate entrances — a main entry and one from the garage. It sounds like a small thing, but in practice it solves a whole list of everyday hassles, sparing you from having to haul heavy grocery bags around the entire house.

The core idea was tying the interior to the stunning water view, which shaped the major layout decisions. The heart of the home is a spacious, 538 sq. ft. kitchen-living room with floor-to-ceiling windows facing the lake. It also opens straight onto the summer terrace, extending that same relaxed, social zone outdoors. To keep the lines clean and avoid clutter, we planned two unassuming but essential rooms right next door from the start: a laundry room and a pantry. That lets you tuck all your supplies and equipment behind a closed door, without disrupting the bright, open feel of the space.

The color and material palette was built on a contrast between a calm base and deep accents. Light tones form the foundation, keeping the space airy and full of light, alongside the natural texture of warm solid walnut on the doors and TV panel. Against that, we introduced a rich burgundy accent, which shows up in the kitchen-living room's decor and in the bedroom's headboard, adding intimacy and depth to the interior. A light green sofa in the living room balances things out and ties the space back to nature outside the window, rounding out a palette that feels elegant while still breathing. This project shows how a well-planned layout and a carefully calibrated palette can create a home that isn't just beautiful, but perfectly tailored to how its owners actually live.
